Creatinine clearance (CrCl) is an estimate of Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR). The Cockcroft-Gault formula is one of the most common methods used to estimate CrCl and is frequently used for medication dosing adjustments in patients with renal impairment.

Use Actual Body Weight if the patient is underweight (ABW < IBW).
Consider using Adjusted Body Weight for obese patients (BMI > 30).
The formula is not accurate in patients with rapidly changing renal function (e.g., Acute Kidney Injury).
