Overview
The Urine Anion Gap (UAG) is used to estimate the concentration of ammonium (NH₄⁺) in the urine. It is primarily used to differentiate between renal and extrarenal (usually gastrointestinal) causes of hyperchloremic (normal anion gap) metabolic acidosis.
