Molality (m) is a measure of concentration defined as the number of moles of solute per kilogram of solvent. Unlike molarity, which depends on the total volume of the solution, molality depends only on the mass of the solvent. This makes it temperature-independent, as mass does not change with temperature, whereas volume does. It is primarily used in thermodynamics and when calculating colligative properties like freezing point depression.
