Overview
When inductors are connected in series, their total inductance is equal to the sum of the individual inductances, provided there is no mutual coupling between them.
💡
Pro Tips
Series inductance formula (no mutual coupling): L_total = L1 + L2 + ... + Ln.
If the inductors are shielded or far apart, mutual inductance is usually negligible.
The result will always be greater than the largest individual inductor in the series.

Fun Facts
"Inductors store energy in a magnetic field, whereas capacitors store energy in an electric field."
"Increasing the number of turns in a coil increases its inductance exponentially."
"Large power station inductors can be the size of a small house and are used to stabilize power grids."
